The Life of My Story
A ONe OR TWO-HOUR ILLUSTRATED TALK WITH A 20 MINUTE INTERVAL
I have been making documentary films for television for more than 30 years. I've made films about life in Britain, about places as varied as Exmoor and Stoke on Trent. I've made films about war and its impact on ordinary lives, about steam railways, canals, the changing face of the English countryside, films about writers, such as Laurie Lee, politicians, like Tony Benn and films about icons like Flying Scotsman, Concorde and Stonehenge. I have worked with presenters as varied as Johnny Kingdom, Robson Green, Lucy Worsley and Michael Portillo.
In this illustrated talk I will focus on my story, my life in television and how I was lucky enough to make the films I made. And I will show clips from some of the films to illustrate how stories are turned into television, with sometimes very surprising results.
